A friend and I are going up to Westport on Thursday night to see I Do, I Do! at the Westport Country Playhouse. We'll be taking the train up from Grand Central, but I'm not entirely sure how to get to the Playhouse from the station...the website says to take a taxi, but I was just wondering if anyone knew a. about how much this costs and b. whether I would have to call in advance to get a cab (both to and from the theater) or if there are cabs waiting outside the station/theater. Thanks so much in advance for your help! :)

I took a cab to the theatre when I went last week and it was $10. There was a line of cabs waiting outside the station, and even though I was on a rush hour train, I didn't have any problem getting a cab. The cabbie I had gave me his card to call for a cab back, but I was staying with a friend and didn't need it. I would assume, however, that that's fairly standard practice.

The show is so wonderful, though, so I hope you enjoy it!

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I am going to see the show tonight but am coming in from Manhattan. I am worried about catching the last train back (which I think leaves at 10:46 pm). Has anyone had to do this after seeing the show and did you make the train? The box office says that the show runs 2 and a half hrs. In case I miss the train, does anyone know of a backup way for me to get back to Manhattan tonight? A bus or something?

There's actually a train that leaves Westport at about 12:13 AM. It's late, but the only other option I know of.
