Both the Gershwin and the Marquis are pretty yucky to watch shows in, although I would hate to see any viable Broadway theatres go away.
The Gershwin. Tuesday night at about, oh say 8:45pm.

Every Broadway theater is precious. Let's not wreck any of them.
Nederlander. Not because of Rent (well...not completely, anyway.) They just need something to get rid of the rats.

But it's fun.
Nederlander, or Studio 54. Gerswin, Minskoff.
Rats in the Nederlander!?
Yeah, and I don't think they're there to give the feeling of a cheap village apartment.

Wait, what? Rats?
Ick. Why don't they get rid of them?
The only rats I know are the critics
I just had a three stooges type experience with a field mouse in our apartment. My wife is petrified of mice. I had it in the kitchen & had a great idea of putting glue traps at the enterance so the only way for it to get out would trap it. It did not do that, I went in to get it & backed into the traps & spent a half hour ( cursing all the while )getting the traps off my shoes. Got the little sucker though
The American Airlines Theater. Because I hate that there is a theater called The American Airlines Theater.
I say either the Lion King Theatre or the Rent Theatre
The Lion King theater is the New Amsterdam one of the most beautiful theaters ever built & lovingly restored. You have to be kidding, right ?
We can't afford to lose anymore. The Henry Miller loss was enough. I think it's a crying shame that they are putting a shoe store into the theatre next to the Ford Center because no one can renovate it. It's sad to see that happen.

For once, Mr. Roxy, I agree completely.

Yes, two were lost for the sake of the Marquis.
Actually, three active Broadway theatres and two former Broadway theatres were knocked down to build the Marriott Marquis. The Morosco, Helen Hayes and Bijou were all pretty active until 1982. Two other houses, the Astor and the Gaiety (not THAT Gaiety) that were once Broadway theatres, were also demolished.
the New Amsterdam is GORGEOUS!!! That was the first Broadway theater i had ever been to and i found it breath taking, the ceiling alone was just so pretty.
All our theatre's are precious commodities, but for esthetic reasons, I say, bulldoze the Minskoff. That has got to be one of the ugliest theatre's going.
Well, I'd like them to totally redo the Gershwin and the MArquis. the Nederlander needs to be knocked down and then redone too because it would be a good theatre if nto for the rats.
Here's a surprise for you. Just about ALL of the Broadway theatres have problems with rats. It's not just the Nederlander.

The current statistic in NYC is that there are 8 rats for every person. I just always assumed that rodents were in all buildings.
