Hey guys,
I'm ordering Shrek tickets tonight and I was just wondering what the best seats would be. Any help would be great! Thanks a lot!

Posted: 12/29/08 at 9:45pmIt really depends. I like the view from the Mezzanine, as you can really admire the technoligical aspects of the show (like the turntables), which I didn't notice when siting in the orchestra. However, I found myself much more enjoyed when sitting in the orchestra. I'll be siting there again in January in Premium, which should be good. However, if you're going to be father back in the orchestra, I reccomend mezzanine, even if it's rear. It's still a great view of the show. However, avoid box seats! I made that mistake once for this show, and you basically spend the entire time leaning over the edge trying to see it. Good for some shows, not for this.

I would not recommend Shrek to many people, I did not like it.
For ticket advice I would say don't go for Rear Mezz, it's supposed to be very far. Try to stay center and close.

Right now I would aim for shows that are closing as they won't be here anymore. So I would recommend Gypsy and Boeing Boeing out of al the shows closing.
But what have you seen/ what do you like?

Sadly I won't be in NY untill August. If I were coming sooner I would most def. want to see Spamalot & Avenue Q. So far (thanks to touring companies) I have seen The Lion King & Wicked. I wasn't to big on Lion King, but I thought Wicked was phenominal.
From the youtube ads I have seen for Shrek, it looks decent. How close would you say it comes to the film?

I am young and I had seen the movie. Some people my age loved it and I thought it was good. Maybe if I had liked the movie more the show would be better but it wasn't. I can't really compare the two, two different things. If you are looking for something fun its probably a good show.
Like I said before though you should see shows closing. Gypsy is not to be missed, Boeing Boeing is great, and August Osage County won't around to long.
But basing on you're likings you may like Spring Awakening. I have not seen it but I think it has the same fan base as Wicked... not sure. Also Hairspray is closing soon and it was always fun. And In The Heights is not closing but it is amazing.

It's funny that you would mention Spring Awakening. I am seeing that tour the tail end of Jan.
Thank you for the advice on the shows.

The tour cast is better than the Broadway cast anyways.

Posted: 12/30/08 at 2:47amThe rear mezz is perfectly fine for Shrek. It does seem very high up and far when you first go in, but you can see the show fine.
