What does "equity tour" and "non-equity tour" mean?- Page 2

I've had friends in both, and both were treated well. If anything, the friends on non-Eq tours were treated better. As some others have said, better accomodations, better perqs like comps and higher per diem, etc. I've seen both types of tours and really haven't been able to distinguish if it's a union or non-union tour just by looking at the show. There are good and not so good in both types of tours. And truthfully, I've NEVER paid the same price for a ticket to a non-Eq tour as to an Equity one. What tours and what cities are you people talking about?
