There are lots of shows that have teens as characters...JRB has his new show "13" about Teen girls...Brian Lowdermilk had a peice about a teenage girl and Michael Arden's Easter Rising has a teenage sidekick. Speaking of Michael Arden...BARE was almost all teens

There has been no work for allot of the teens. Producers prefer use adults so they don't pay for tutoring. There really has been nothing period. Well, some of the kids eventually leave or something. It's a risky business for a teenager .
it really strikes me as odd that broadway doesnt use teens as here in london we start working in shows at 18(the more dance based shows like fame grease footloose etc)I started at in my teens and diddnt realize that it was like that in new york.

I'm a 16 year old in the USA, and I have to wait about another 6 years until I can start a theatre career.
In my area, there are not many theatre-specializing vocational high schools (as I thin is the case almost everywhere). Here most actors go to college after high school (which ends at 18, no extra add on years) because there are not many vocational schools for teenagers in the arts readily available in every area of it.
Yes..we need more teenagers on Broadway. Why? Simple! Teenagers are the one who buy the majority of tickets for Broadway shows. See:
Candi: Hey..let's go to see the Hilary Duff movie! Kewl!
Heathier: Naw. I got to save money so I can get good orchestra seats for "Caroline or Change".
Candi: oohh awesome
