abominableerror, did you actually read my post that you quoted? Did you not see the "Huh?" at the end? Did you honestly not realize that clearly the entire list was of musicals based on other sources? Really? That thought escaped you?

Originality is very rare in musicals. What the poster in the beginning probably means is that now people are just putting movies to music. The classics were biger eforts in writing a story.

No, he is a singer who can also act. Is that news?

Are you really that dense? He competed on Idol, where he placed 2nd, beating 70,000 other singers. That allowed him to have a successful career in show business, which ultimately led to the offer to do Spamalot.
