Hi all,

I'm heading back to NY briefly just after christmas until mid jan, and I am starting to plan the things I want to see.

My question is, what happens to the normal schow schedule over xmas/new years? Are there shows on new years eve/new years day etc - what is the holiday season like? Or does each show have its own timetable?

Also - should I be booking things in advance relying on the fact that holiday makers will make purchasing tix more difficult?

Thanks

The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

The holiday season is always jampacked. I would say that atarting from thanksgiving to a little after new years the city is full.

Most shows have thier own timetable as to what they are doing when in terms of the holidays at that time. For example, last year the only show to preform on christmas day was Drowsy. So, they do tend to screw round with the schedule just so that they can take the major holiidays off while still having an eight show a week schedul.

Check out Playbill.com -- they can give you a heads-up closer to the time. Another way is to call the Box Office or Ticketmaster or whoever and ask the schedule for the shows you want to see.

And unfortunately some shows increase their prices during that period.

The trend of increasing tickets prices over holidays is absurd to me. Unless I'm getting a little something extra, why would I pay more? Nothing says Have a Happy Holiday like getting ripped off.

why is it any more absurd than hotels raising their rates or airlines raising fares during heavy tourism times?

I just checked Playbill.com -- they have listings for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's dates.
