I would like to come up for the first preview of If/Then on March 4th. Right now there is a super cheap flight on Jet Blue for $91. But with tickets not being on sale yet for the show, what are the chances it could change? Pretty set in stone? I also want to see Kinky Boots and Big Fish on Wednesday. I guess for that cheap of a flight I could take a chance. I assume preview seats are not as hard to come by as true opening night?

Don't.

As said before, nothing is set in stone.

And the first preview of anything is never great. Too many things can go kerfluey.

Wait at least a week, maybe two, before you see the show. Do you want to be the first on your block to see a new musical or do you want to see a better performance?

Good point. I thought it might be fun to see the warts and all of the first night on Broadway, having never experienced that before. But I will wait for now. Thanks!

And the weather can only get better if I wait a few weeks ( well hopefully).

It depends on the show. Personally, I have been to a few first previews and have had good times at all of them.

Since it's premiering in DC in the fall, I'd imagine much of the wholesale creative changes will happen before the Broadway run begins. That said, first previews often can have missteps like missed cues, sound issues, lines dropped, etc. It's really up to you. As others have said though, it isn't unheard of for shows to cancel the first preview or two if things take longer than anticipated in rehearsals. Since you're flying, it's probably not worth the risk of cancellation.
