Posted: 11/18/05 at 11:46amThe Hours by Adam Guettel. I think it would be interesting to see these 3 stories told in music and have the 3 different time periods displayed on stage at the same time.

Arthea Franklin on stage is Musical Theatre enough for me!
All fantastic ideas! I hope some producer is reading this.

Yes, THE HOURS by Guettel is brilliant - but I wouldn't say he's the only one that could make it work...there's always Sondheim.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by Ahrens/Flaherty

Posted: 11/18/05 at 11:59amI know that "Catch Me If You Can" is supposed to be adapted into a musical. Is Yazbek working on that music? If not, I think that would be RIGHT up his alley.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 12:07pmWell that could work, too. Shaiman and Wittman are brilliant. I just feel like Yazbek would bring his unique sound that material that would work well. Yazbek needs to have more work out there on Broadway. The thing that I have really liked about his work is that it's a different sound/feel than is normally represented on Broadway, but it works well with the the structure of a Broadway musical.

Couldn't agree with you more, Hanna. His work has a contemporary sound without throwing out the Broadway tradition. He also has the flexibilty to comment and mimic all sorts of music. In DRS he tackles country music, 70's pop, and Noel Coward! All soooo seemless. A real talent!
