Some folks are just too hard to please, I guess. Be happy that we get to experience tryouts, world premieres and pre-Broadway shows some 3000 miles away from NYC. I just love that a city that has suffered the moniker of "Cultural Oasis" at times can serve up something no one else gets to see, including Broadway. Don't forget that CTG has also given us some out of town gems recently, such as Curtains, Drowsy Chaperone, Flower Drum Song (Revival) and Big River (DW revival). Though flawed, it was also fun getting a first look at 13, 3hree, Like Jazz, Pippin (DW Revival) Leap of Faith and 9 to 5. Sure beats the 3rd or 4th coming of Phantom or Wicked.

The season seems a bit off, perhaps, but I can't blame them for going for 'brand names' to attract as broad an audience as possible, given the current climate. I am just grateful to have the opportunity to see these productions and feel more apart of the Great White Way. ($20 Hot Tix don't hurt either!)

I do too! It sounds like a cut song from In the Heights, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. It just is very much in the same style, even without the rap.

I saw this show at the Alliance in Atlanta. I really enjoyed it . It appeals to the same audience as Legally Blonde and In the Heights . The music is catchy , choreography terrific , it has a coherent funny story . Much of the cast is the same and they were just terrific . I think it will be well received .

I find people putting Legally Blonde and In The Heights in the same category a bit sad. Heights wasn't the best show I've seen, but it's light years above the mind-numbing mess that is Legally Blonde

While I think Bring it On will live up to my low expectations of it, I fully support CTG and Michael Ritchie having pre-Broadway tryouts as part of the season and hope they have more.

I'm also looking forward to Funny Girl too.

As for other random shows people previously bashed earlier in the thread, Legally Blonde and Shrek were both great fun shows Pantages. (That said, they were great fun shows at $25.00 balcony and $35 Goldstar respective. Not sure they'd be as great for $100.

...and what have you ever contributed to musical theater, Happyphantom, that would make you the expert voice on a show you haven't even seen yet (or Legally Blonde, for that matter; let's see you try to put on a Broadway musical, not some school production but a REAL Broadway show. Say what you will about the show - it's a free world - but until you've made some meaningful contribution to the art, let's leave the sweeping statements in the wings, shall we?)

I would never pay full price at the Ahmanson - except for Funny Girl - but they have discount codes for this one so I'm going to go see for myself. The creative presence of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt has got to mean something.

I hope to see Lin there. It was cool to see Jason Robert Brown tooling around the Taper for 13.
