I got this off of a website...

John Doyle, the acclaimed director of the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, will direct a production of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's opera The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny the L.A. Opera in 2007.

As first reported by Playbill.com on Nov. 14, 2005, Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald, who most recently shared the stage in the Ravinia Festival's production of Anyone Can Whistle, will reteam for The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.

Opening night is Feb. 10, 2007.

Mimi in RENT. I heard it from a very reliable source.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Probably searching for some government independent regulatory agency or other upstanding department to berate on her website.

I'm interested to see what's next for her, though -- it seems as if the legendary parts she can do are either gone or in the process of becoming so.

Writing Crazy Blogs for one thing. From Patti's website:

So I'm fresh back from the West Coast, in particular Northern California which I love very, very much. It is so beautiful. I don't know why I didn't go there sooner in my life......

While I was in San Francisco I stayed at the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at in my life and career. It is called The Palace Hotel and who are they kidding? It is dirty and smelly. It is a beautiful old building taken over by Starwood Hotels, whoever the hell they are. When I walked into my room I was almost knocked over by the smell, and for nine days I couldn't figure out what the smell was. A dead rodent in the wall, dried vomit, old carpeting?

What I encountered when I complained about almost everything in this this lousy flea bitten sh*thole were profuse apologies. The attempted corrections were always incompetent and half-assed.
