First of all, hi! I'm new around here and it seems like there are many of you from all over the country and involved or fans of all aspects of theatre. Soooo... what's your current project? Are you involved in a production or looking forward to auditions or designing a set, light, costumes, planning a trip to see a Broadway show or going to see a national tour or WHAT!
I'll go first - I am currently in rehearsals here in sunny Las Vegas, NV (yes, we have community theatre) for Once On This Island. I started out designing hair & makeup, but then a cast member had to quit, so now I'm also playing Andrea. My husband is playing Papa Ge and I think it's going to be a really great show. I also plan to go see "Hairspray" next year when it gets to LA or San Diego and hope that a friend of mine who is understudying Tracy will get to go on.
Ok - your turn!

Hi and Welcome to you, DivaMommy !
I'm afraid I don't have the talent to be a member of the performing arts industry - but I do love going to the theatre.
My theatre-related future plans ?
I live in Southeast Asia but I plan to spend about 3 weeks in New York from late November -- which means there is a good chance to see some shows again. I already have tickets for The Boy From Oz -- and am deciding what other shows to see then ( I saw Man of La Mancha, Hairspray, Nine, The Producers and Take Me Out when I was there last May-June).
Hope your project is successful.

I'm currently in rehearsels for Godspell. I play the role of Jeffrey, but I renamed myself Nicholas. The show will be on in September. We have a great cast. Most of Act ONe is blocked, and all of the songs are done musically- choreography wise, we are well on our way there. I'm really looking forward to it.
Im currently a starving actress on a diet :) selling t-shirts on bway at 2 shows across the street from eachother. Um what else? Im in rehersals for our next student voice show case at the end of october woo... singing "suddenly seymour" "a change in me" and possibly "if momma was married" if i can find the damn sheet music =D
thats my life... pretty boring during the day..exciting at night cuz i get to meet people from all walks of the earth ..some dont know their left from right...others see prices right above their heads and still ask how much something is... lolol..kidding but good luck to you!!
auntie sueleen where are u??? im eating a veggie taco salad from Ariba Ariba on 51st and 9th..my god the best thing since mine and mammamiasammys wedding.
I just auditioned for Hope and Faith, had a recurring role on SATC, but most of the auditions I get are for commercials-I've made a few.
Congratulations on Godspell, Billy!
What a nice thought, find out just a little about the posters, then people are more inclined to undertstand their views on topics.
I know there are a LOT of young people here...and I think that's great! Been there with fond memories.:) Good to see a fresh new outlook with fresh young faces focused on theater.
I'm registered here as PB Entertainment, but most people in this business know me as pati b. my "story" is on my website http://www.pbspotlight.com. So I won't bore you here.
But I'm currently involved with upcoming fundraisers/ workshops and concert bookings with my performers. I spent the majority of my time in theaters, so when my hubby or sons (23 married & 18!) want to go to a movie...I politely decline and opt for a day at the beach or amusment park, which are just a few of my favorite things.
While I enjoy an 'intelligent' challanging debate, I avoid confrontations and "toxic people". At this point in my life...I want to choose how to spend my energy. Here's to "happy thoughts" in a troublsome world! :)
I am currently in rehearsals for an Off-Broadway showcase that will be going up in a couple of weeks.
Cheers,

I just found out today three things
1, I'm to prompt a production
2, I'm to be an assistant director on a show later this season
3, If the assistant directing goes well I can direct my own show for the 2004/5 season.
and to add to that
4, I go into rehearsals for Sweet Bird of Youth in October.

Hello All.... What a great thread! Diva, I just finished a production of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. It was done at a local community theatre as a youth theatre, and I loved it. I was assistant director (I haven't been a "youth" for a long time). LOL
I am the head of drama at a large Central Illinois High School. Currently, we are working on a production of South Pacific at school. I also do a lot of theatre in our local community theatres. I am auditioning for RAGTIME in October. I'm very nervous, as I haven't been in a show for several years. My time is just very limited, so it has to be a show I really want to do for me to audition. I have worked quite a few shows, though - mostly stage managing (SUGARBABIES, 42nd STREET, THE ODD COUPLE, THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, etc.).

Hey! Welcome!
a) Jumpstarting my school's first musical, Godspell. We have only have 2 male singers so I'm either going to be playing Jesus, John, or Judas.
b) Producing a teen theater run troupe so we may perform The Last Five Years or john and jen
c) Writing a concept musical about the effect of AIDS on various types of people and their reactions in 1991 called OBLIVION.

My next project will probably be the lighting designer for my school's fall play. Also in December, I have been chosen to be the technical director/Lighting designer for my community theatre's production of "Little Women."

Amneris,
If Mama Was Married is in the conductor's score which ought to up at the library at Lincoln Center. Put down the taco salad (Ariba Ariba is my favorite restaurant in NY) and hoof it on up there and get thee to the copier with a roll of quarters. Then find some clever soul to turn this into a duet for one.
The world is divided into two parts--rocket science and not-rocket science.
This is not-rocket science.

Hey, Penny - this is my first show in two and a half years - I hope you get Ragtime! It's a great feeling to be back on stage!
And you Godspell guys - I'M TOTALLY JEALOUS! My husband did an amazing production of Godspell last year. He was John/Judas. Meanwhile I played his very pregnant wife out in the audience. I love Godspell - it's an amazing ensemble show. That's what I love about Once On This Island - sure there are leads, but we all actively participate in the show from start to stop and HAVE TO work together to tell the story. Fun, fun, FUN!

Once on this Island is so much fun to do in every aspect. I played Armand (I got the pimp song. Hell yeah! lol).
So John and Judas are played by the same actor?
Yes. The man enters as John The Baptist in "Preapre Ye" warning the other to prepare for the coming of the lord. He baptizes them, and after he baptizes Jesus, he becomes Judas. And yes, Diva Mommy, it is an amazing show. I sing "All Good Gifts". It's a beautiful song.
As soon as September rolls around, I will begin rehersals in our annual Fall Festival of Shakespeare...we are either doing King Lear or Merchant of Venice (to my knowledge) Last year, we did Midsummer!
Well right now I am in rehearsals for a traveling murder mystery parody of 'American Idol', where I play the host of the show (the ryan seacrest type character). Then, The first week of september I am auditioning for a production of Kiss Me Kate and a production of Jaquues Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Where I find time for all of this on top of work and school is beyond me!

Had to give up the theater years ago, much to my sorrow, but because of my experience, I'm currently doing presentations at my job and starting to teach classes.
Let me tell you, it's just as scary to get up in front on a group of people who are going to ask you a lot of hard questions as it ever was going in front of a theater audience. It’s far more interactive.
D
I'm not doing anything, as usual...just chorus at school. I recently did a show for my singing class...sang "On My Own"...it stunk...bad... when I got to the "I love him" parts, a little three-year-old boy in the audience laughed. It was actually quite funny.
i just finished a show off-broadway. now i'm back to auditioning.

My drama class is putting on a Fall play. I don't know what it is yet, the instructor hasn't picked one yet, but I can't wait. Hopefully she'll let me be an asst. director.
I'm crenately working on a prediction of Joseph and the amazing Technicolor dream coat at a local community theater we open on Sept. 11 if that's not a sing I don't know what is.
I'm also planing on going on Sunday to get tickets to see HAIRSPRAY for the third time (standing room) and I already have tickets for the 7:00 show for little shop of Horrors :)
WOSQ thank u!!!! I have to go up there on some free time..it's actually for a duet for our vocal show case. I really want to do this but the only place i found it was on line for $50.00 in the GYPSY entire score!
In November, I'm Eugene Morris Jerome in Brighton Beach Memoirs. In January, I'm Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.
