What's a west end show?

"Let the little girl go, and that poor little dog? Dodo." That's my favorite line in the whole show (Wicked). My next favorite line is "Oh! It seems the artichoke is steamed."

Usually a show that plays in a Manhattan theater that's too small to qualify as a Broadway theater under Tony award rules and/or outside of a certain geographic area in midtown.
