I know Brad's leaving "The Producers" in early January. Does anyone know what he's planning to do after that? (I mean, after he collapses for a bit??) I think he's just great and I'm looking forward to his next project. Thanks!
January 9th for him and Hunter - and I'll be there in the front!!!!!!
He is very talented - he should replace Lane in London (so Lane can return here and replace the g-d-awful (I predict this now) Richard Kind ::shivers run through spine::!
so who is going to replace him, my bet is kelsey grammer or richard dreyfus (since he's out of the london engagement)...although i would love to see someone like james naughton, brian stokes mitchell, or brent barret in the part (i think this role would be amazing with that type of voice)
Richard Kind, in case you missed it in my babble hehehe

haven't heard,heart-wish him all the best,though-nice guy...and great sucess story, too. Was the understudy in the out of town Producers & stepped in for Franz...the rest is history...but you probably know this already.... Updated On: 10/18/04 at 10:57 PM
To whom?
Kind or Oscar
Personally I think Kind is the reason Sly Fox closed - he's so obnoxious.

You really think someone like Stokes has the comic chops for that role?
His voice is too deep I think.
I know he can hit the notes, but his voice is to trained that it couldn't deliver certain comic lines ("There was a time, when I was young and gay....but straight") etc
Don't get me wrong, He was awesome in Man of La Mancha!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see what Brad will get himself into next. But he deserves a nice vacation after giving almost 4 years to this show.
I wish him all the best (and Hunter too - what a sweetie!)

plum- i definately think he has the comic chops, bearing in mind he was originally in john lithgow's scoundrel's role

Well, I've only heard him in dramatic roles like in Ragtime and Man of La Mancha. He doesn't strike me as being in the Zero Mostel or Nathan Lane mold. But if he can do it, good for him. :) Updated On: 10/19/04 at 12:20 AM
With that gorgeous voice of his, I'd love to see Brad headline another show soon...and since there has been much talk of 'non-traditional' casting here in recent weeks, I'd love to see him in a traditional 'romantic leading man' role.
Beefy, 'bear-y', bald guys fall in love too!
And I gotta say..I am very much looking forward to seeing Richard Kind in TP. He got the best reviews in BOUNCE, and he might give Max a new kind of comic spin.
Sorry, no "leading men" for Max! C'mon!!!!
But, I WOULD love to see and hear Brad Oscar portray The Phantom of the Opera, I think he'd be brilliant.
Wow, Brad would be wonderful in POTO!
I agree, Master - he does have a GORGEOUS voice! I seem to remember reading an interview with Brad in which he speculated how he'd like to be in "Sweeney Todd". PERFECT!
And he's SUCH a cutie! Must be a prerequisite for playing the role of Max on Broadway.
Brad Oscar as Phantom? hmmmm.... have you seen him in anything similar? He's great, but not sure if he'd wear the mask well.
I had a chat with Norm Lewis though, who holds Phantom and The Beast as favorite roles. thoughts?
I'm of the firm mind that the Phantom needs to be played by someone with a "comic's heart"...something about being so close to tragedy, they "get" his tragic soul and longing effortlessly, but I would love to see and hear Norm Lewis as the Phantom.
Perhaps Brad will be headed to London to take over for Lane? Timing is right...wonder if Brad is interested in a trip to the U.K.
Though Mel will probably say that no one knows who he is...well, Lane isn't exactly a household name there either and they both can do the role so...let's stay tuned to the ever evolving soap opera that is the international Producers shuffle
a comic's heart? . Can't say I follow you on that Eddie. He is so tortured and pained. Not a hint of levity in his soul. But I'll be a polite and say....interesting.
And Norm could sing me the phone book! I just love this guy to death. Speaking of phantom's, I once told Kevin Gray that he reminded me of a "white Norm Leiws" to which Kevin laughed "more like Norm is a black Kevin Gray". They are seemilngly fond of each other.
Kelsey Grammar considered and refused the role being afraid he would flop (and he was right to do so). There is NO way they will bring Dreyfuss to Broadway now.
Kind will go in and then we'll see how long he lasts. As for Brad's possible London trip, I hope he holds them hostage for more money since he will be bailing them out again, which he has done plenty of times in the past and with good nature. When Lane comes back here, I think Brooks will probably not have found his next London Max and we just may see Brad putting on the fedora again...and muttering how he ALMOST got away!
