Perhaps Sweet Charity can hurry up with the casting and workshop and move onto Brodaway already.

"I Just Wanna Dance" is one of the best songs I've heard in a musical in a very long time. The orchestrations alone are a Tony shoo-in. I think the only reason I'm so enthused about the show is that I really expected to hate it and be repulsed by it. But believe me, it's not at all what you expect.

There will be plenty of shows jockeying for the Plymouth. It is one of the most desireable houses on the street and always has been. A Raisin in the Sun comes to mind and so does the new play with Frank Langella and Ray Liotta, the title of which I have forgotten.
The Plymouth is way too small for a decent sized musical. That is one of the many reasons Jekyll and Hyde didn't pay off after 4 years there. Sweet Charity is too large of a show.
As for any show going into the Majestic post-Phantom, there will be a long reconstruction period needed once Phantom closes. Remember they needed about 7-8 months to get the place ready for Phantom in 86-87? This included tossing out 42nd Street and paying them a nice piece of change to move, breaking through the back wall of the Majestic to gain some extra footage from the Broadhurst (which had to be vacated as well, but I forget the show) and to reinforce the stage floor.
And one of the many conditions that Phantom was given to go to the Majestic was no stop clause to be evicted. They had begun talks for the Minskoff which has a larger backstage area and was empty.
Phantom is winding down, but don't count it out just yet.
