Has anyone seen this new production of "South Pacific"? My mother, who's 80, loves this show more than any other show. If it's an excellent production, I want to get her tickets as a gift and get her in town to see it.

I saw the first preview and it was absolutely beautiful. The cast, the set, the music, the storyline... just gorgeous.
Get your ticket while you can. The show's selling extremely well.

Don't wait much longer. It may be hard to get tickets soon (if not already).
The word- very good.
If you're Mom is a fan of old Broadway, PearlyLight, she may fancy sitting through the seven minute Overture played by a 30-piece pit. Hopefully when she goes (and when I go, or if it's not cut in previews) the audience won't talk through it like they do at Curtains (and that's only three minutes!) or any other show with an overture that the dancing chorus doesn't do cartwheels through.
I've heard all positive things.
The best thing about the audience at City Center for Gypsy (or any other show for that matter) is the way they appreciate overtures. Three times the audience applauded, three different times! Can’t wait for the South Pacific overture!!
