How many people always answer this question "Well, it's gotta be close to midnight!" every time they are asked this question? hihi...I sure do!
Was in shock when an actor I worked with in the West End did the same thing. Jinx!!!!

haha I have! and people give me really weird looks. I remember once my Mom said "actually it's around four thirty" and didn't get my explanation and we've seen RENT like three times together.

Horse party time!
I actually trained my seven year old niece to say this. When she's a bit older, we'll go the 'Rent' route. :3

When somebody asked me that I actually did respond "Well it's gotta be close to midnight." My friend isn't a musical theater fan and said " Yeah it is pretty close to midnight."

Posted: 8/5/06 at 6:21pmI don't think people usually phrase it that way - it's way more common to hear "What time is it?"

Posted: 8/5/06 at 6:25pmI've had to restrain myself when people tell me "You look familiar".
Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

That and when someone says, "I have to go out." I have to go-o-o lol
My friend is also constantly saying, "hey mister" to one of our patients (we work at a therapeutic riding center). I'm sure you can imagine where we go from there, but we have to restrain ourselves b/c our patients are all children!

Now that song is stuck in my head! But, that's ok.
This year during my foods class we watched a video about how the color and lighting of foods affects if the food looks appetizing. We were talking about the video and I said (without intentionally saying it), "Well, it tastes the same if you close your eyes." However, there were no other RENTheads in the rooms.

Haha, the thought always runs through my head, and its many times when I have to restrain myself from actually saying it if I'm around people who will have NO idea what the heck I'm talking about.
However, I do tend to mutter it under my breath at every chance I get.
Same as when I turned 19 a few weeks ago, and when everyone asked me how old I was, I always said "I'm 19, but I'm old for my age, I'm just born to be bad". YESS.
There are so many RENT things you can just so very easily pop into conversation. My musical theatre friends and I find ourselves constantly falling into the trap, hah.

Whenever someone says (or I say) "Let's go eat," I constantly start singing, "I'll just get fat it's the one vice left!"

My boyfriend and I do that all the time. I introduced him to RENT last year and now we have our weird little Rent things that we do. When we're on the phone and one of asks "What's the time?" the other one always sings "Well it's gotta be close to midnight..." And then we'll just start singing.
It's weird to hear your boyfriend sing "I wanna put on a tight skirt and flirt with a stranger" though.

That's so true.

#21re: What's the time?
Posted: 8/6/06 at 4:52pmHaha the other day my brother was like "Last night, I had a dream" I was like "I found myself in a desert called Cyberland"
#22re: What's the time?
Posted: 8/6/06 at 5:04pmI do all of these. It's just second nature for me

More the other way around for me. I'm more likely to ask "What's the time?" to someone else, in the hopes that they'll get it and respond properly. When I do it to my best friend, he enthusiastically responds "Well, it's gotta be close to midnight!" no matter what time it is. When I do it to like, my mother, she doesn't get it. When I do it to my boyfriend, who's a big theatre fan but HATES Rent, he recognizes the set-up, gives me an annoyed look, and then gives me the correct time. Heh.
