I've tried to find an answer to this, but haven't come across one - what's with the 2005 after the Rent title - on the marquis at the theaters, on imdb...the movie is called "Rent," not "Rent 2005." This dooms a movie that can easily be seen as a period piece as dated in a little more than a month...where did that come from???

Well, on IMDb, they list years on all the movies (as some have been re-made). I've never seen this at the theaters before, though. Do all the movies have this? or just Rent?
Nope - just Rent - it was on the little signs above the entrance to the theaters it was playing in at the multiplex -- it didn't say "Harry Potter 2005"
I don't know. I haven't seen that on any of our three movie theatres. Maybe you should ask the people at the theatre? They might know.

Yeah! I was wondering about that too...at my AMC theater it says "Rent 2005" on the light up thing on the wall.
ME TOO! When I went to see it on Wed. at the Regal it was Rent, but tonight I went to see Walk The Line at an AMC, and I saw the 2005 and I freaked out about it and my boyfriend told me not to talk to him for 10 min.,lol. I just got pissed about the 2005!

It would mean there has been another film called Rent. However imdb does not show any films called Rent aside from this one.
Might be an AMC thing then - it was at the AMC that I saw it also. If I go to another theater I'll have to see. Strange...

Mine didn't have that.

Mine didn't either. That's strange for the rest of you.
Maybe the people who put up the movie titles saw the "2005" on imdb.com as well! That would be silly.
It upsets me because it makes it sound like it's a spaceship or a sci-fi movie. RENT 2005, WTF?
