Ok, So I think everyone universally agrees that The Wiz Live was the first new NBC live musical that actually worked.
So where did they go right?
The most obvious thing that I saw was that with the previous two years, the lack of a live audience was palpable and awkward. But I didn't get that same feeling with this one...no idea why, but my guess was better placing of commercials after big numbers.
Thoughts?
Sorry, I saw the thread about the show, but nothing specifically focusing on my original thought...
If that's what the other thread has become, cool.
If you had posted this in the other thread, people would have answered you and you wouldn't have relegated
Andy Mientus's tweets to page two.
I personally disagree RE: universal opinion.

I thought The Wiz mediocre at best. The cast was good, but the camera work, sound and direction were dreadful. The decision to not include a live audience was a huge mistake. The revised book was horrific, and I'm a huge Harvey fan.
Now having typed the above, there were some very magical moments, but nothing about The Wiz was consistently good.

I have just described some facts on another thread about this. Although some enjoyed it and got support from the community that has cultural reference too, does not mean it went right.

The revised book was "horrific"? Come now, could that possibly be a bit over the top???
Every Party has a pooper, that is why we invited you! The show did go right and you are just as wrong in this thread as you are in the other. Thanks for sharing!
