The recent concert version of Candide was taped for PBS and will be shown sometimes around the New Year. It was great seeing it in the house, I'm really looking forward to seeing it again.
As for Kristen, she has more than the range needed to do Lily Garland, and she would be very funny.
I would rather see a major revival than a concert version though.
I would love to see Dear World done by Encores.
amerac,
For Letitia Primrose I cast my vote for... Elaine Stritch. Can't you just see Stritch doing "Repent" [and bringing the house down!] :)
Elaine Stritch as Letitia Primrose? What perfect casting. Therefore it will never be done. Recently it seems Broadway Producers are going out of there way to hire the wrong people for major roles.
So true, Marc, so true... ):
Elaine Stritch is a little too...brusque, I think, for Letitia, who needs a certain manic sweetness. Given the part's roots with a great TV clown, what about Carol Burnett?
Magruder,
You may have a point. Carol and Imogene are both "zany" performers! :)
I still think Stritch would do well in part, though--just bring a different "slant" to it.
By the way, regarding Burnett vs. Stritch, Carol once sang "The Ladies Who Lunch" on her TV show. I kept on waiting for Harvey Korman to throw a pie in her face! :)
I just listened to then video clip of Kristen Chenoworth singing "Glitter and Be Gay" that Margo so graciously found for me.
Man, it was enlightening!
You guys are RIGHT! Chenoworth could give Barbara Cook a run for her money! LOL, everyone!!!

WHOA! Got an idea! Who thinks that Seesaw should be done with Jane Krakowski as Gittel Mosca, directed by the original associate choreographer, Tommy Tune? I'd slap down the dough to see that anyday!
