Posted: 8/10/10 at 12:53am^ I saw Rachel York as Dolly. She was fantastic. Really funny (as you'd expect), but also very, very touching. During her speech to Ephraim you could hear a pin drop in the audience. Had people all choked up, she did. She was sexy, commanding, vulnerable, a fast talker. All the things you'd expect PLUS she sang the heck out of that score. Her "Parade" and "Hello, Dolly" stopped the show. She got very long, loud cheers and applause. They also added "Love, Look in My Window" for her, which was divine. She won the IRNE Award from the Boston critics. It's sort of the equivalent of the Drama Desk in NY.

"HELLO, DOLLY the movie is one of great films of all time."
Oh, you poor little thing. It has it's moments but even as a Streisand fan, I find it challenging.
And I'm always up for a revival of DOLLY but we need MAME first.

So much hate for the DOLLY! Well, ribbons down the back is a fashion statement that doesn't fit everyone.
