Are you serious???
June Hovick's marriage to that chorus boy lasted about a year. In 1933, at the age of 16, she became a marathon dance champion. She changed her name to June Havoc and made her way to Broadway, where she was featured in the original cast of PAL JOEY, among others. She then went to Hollywood where she had featured roles in dozens of movies. All of this is told in her tow autobiographies, "Early Havoc" and "Later Havoc". In the ealry 1960's, she wrote a play, "MARATHON '33", based on her marathoin dancing experience. It was presented Off-Broadway with Julie Harris playing June. In the mid-1980's, she played Mrs. Lovett in the second National Tour of SWEENEY TODD. In t5he earely 1990's, she appeared Off-Broadway in THE OLD LADY'S GUIDE TO SURVIVAL.

Didn't she replace Ethel Merman in a show Sadie Thompson, I think?
Isn't that funny? I believe the show was in the 40's

Posted: 12/16/05 at 1:26pmShe is interviewed in BROADWAY: THE GOLDEN AGE. She looks great. She is also in that PBS documentary on vaudeville. She comes off as pretty nice in both.

Posted: 12/16/05 at 1:28pmYeah, she could be a lot crazier considering the Mother she was "raised" by.
re: Whatever Happened To Baby JUNE!: The Dainty June Story#8
Posted: 12/16/05 at 1:37pmHer health is apparently quite bad at this point and she is unable to really leave her house. Though I guess her mind is still all there. I know both Tyne Daly and Bernadette Peters met with June when they were preparing to play Rose and I believe Tyne took the kids in her production to meet June. I think I remember an article where June said she was actually wanting to see the 2003 Revival (she has always refused to attend any previous productions) but wasn't able to because of her health. Doesn't she "own" some town in Connecticut where she lives?
