Very interesting subject. I was wondering:
1) In the Times article, it makes it sound like the Playbills are delivered daily, but others have mentioned weekly. Does anyone know what the delivery schedule is?
2) I did not know that Playbill actually pays the theatres to accept the Playbills. Does anyone have a sense of how much that payment is?
3) On the other hand, Playbill must not pay every theatre. There was a skirmish with Forbidden Broadway where they stopped using the Playbills, which I can't imagine them doing if they were getting paid to use them. I also can't see small theater companies going through the nuisance and expense of printing their own programs if someone is going to come in and just give them programs. Does anyone know whether off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway theaters also get paid?
I can clearly see an elvish hand in this cover's artwork!
