Not going to lie, recently I've been incredibly bored by many of the new musicals coming to Broadway so I did some digging (on YouTube and such) to find a few really exciting musicals that are being developed (commercially and independently) around the world.

But how do y'all find out about all these projects long before they reach Broadway/regional theatres? It seems to me that many of you know about everything years before it gets anywhere.

Bonus points for those who share something fun or interesting to listen to that I don't know yet - tell me about your favourite upcoming creators/musicals!

Checking out new concept albums can help, as can keeping an eye on websites that focus on theatre news for countries beyond the US and UK. I also occasionally google for recent mentions of musical creators that I'm interested in, or take a look at their websites or recent social media, to see if they have anything new in the pipeline. Keeping an eye on theatre companies that have a track record of developing interesting new work is also an option.

Follow the creatives whose work you've enjoyed in the past, a lot of them will post about stuff coming up or even just other stuff from friends and such that they'd recommend.  Keep an eye on what's getting buzz around fringe festivals or other festivals of new works, even if you can't attend in person they'll usually release clips or songs to help get more traction.

Sometimes cabaret venues like 54 Below will have specific nights dedicated to young writers/new works and I've seen a couple performances that have made me want to keep up with them, and in those settings you might have a chance to speak with them afterwards to hear what's next for them.

Also just obsessively following broadway news from sources like BWW/Playbill etc.  Broadway News does a daily newsletter where they'll often mention readings happening, granted a lot of these are NYC-centric.
