I'm going sometime later this fall, and I'm so excited. I'm not exactly sure where the stage door is located though. Is it on the same side as that one Broadway gift shop? Also, I've never really done the whole stage door thing... and I'm afraid I won't make it to the front of the barricades, therefore missing out on autographs, pictures, etc. Any advice? How long do they usually stay? Thanks for the help.
It's the door that says Stage Entrance on it

It's located in Shubert Alley closer to 44th than 45th. You cant miss it because you hear screamng and see barricades. my friend was three blocks away and could still hear the screaming......

It's to the left of the 1 Shubert Alley gift shop, the closest door to the theater.
There are actually two stage doors in the alley (the Shubert and the Booth next door), plus another entrance to the Booth, so make sure you hit the right one.

I doubt there's any way you could possibly miss it! I was walking that way right after a show let out and I almost couldn't get through the alley there were so many people - craziness!

You've already received responses about the stage door. I figured I'd answer your other question. They usually come out about 10 minutes after the show ends. They usually come staggered and everytime I have been there they have stayed out until they signed and took pictures with everyone that wanted them. They even reach over fans to get the people in the back. But I recommened trying to get as close to the rail as possible and then you'll get all of them. They don't all always come out but you'll get most of them.
How can you possibly worry about not being able to find a stage door to a show like SPAMALOT which is mobbed with fans after every performance?
Secondly, stage doors are not hidden temples. Use your heads and stop making threads asking where they are.

Do you have to be rude to everyone? No one finds you funny.
I think the best way to go about this is ask the ushers at the theatre...Ask before the show. Ask after.
You don't need reservations so don't worry about knowing so far in advance!

If you've been to see THE PRODUCERS, you should know exactly where the Shubert stage door is located. The entire "It's Bad Luck to Say Good Luck on Opening Night" number is built around people entering that stage door!
It's only the most famous and easy to find stage door on Broadway.
