I would have to agree with everyone saying Sarah Brightman. She's the IDEAL Christine.

Dale Kristen...

Well, I saw her, and worked with her.

How can you top someone who never took a short work week, and was also told, "You don't have to hold those high notes so long"?

But she did...with ease.

By far, the best Christine EVER.

Sarah Brightman
Lisa Vroman
Dale Kristien

I'm one of only a few, but I actually like Sarah Brightman's voice. It's weird, but that's why I like it.

I have heard a recording of Lisa Vroman singing "Think of Me" and I absolutely adored it.

I heard Dale Kristien sing when I saw Michael Crawford in concert a few weeks ago at Foxwoods. She sang "Think of Me," "The Phantom of the Opera" and "All I Ask of You." She had the most amazing soprano I've ever heard. I have never heard someone sing so effortlessly. And she absolutely NAILED the high E at the end of "The Phantom of the Opera"... LIVE! I was blown away. I was even more blown away to find out that she is the only actress allowed to play Christine all eight performances a week. I can definitely see why.

Give Sandra Joseph the boot and bring Dale Kristien to Broadway!

I'm not sure how old Dale is now. I believe she played Christine during the ENTIRE record-breaking run in Los Angeles (something like five years!).

I had the privilege of seeing her twice with Michael Crawford, and once again opposite Robert Guillaume (Crawford's first replacement). She was always fantastic, and addition to her gorgeous voice, she also was one of the most BEAUTIFUL ladies to play Christine ever. Even the photos of her don't seem to do her justice. On stage, she was breath-taking "visually."

An interesting thing happened... When she starred opposite Michael Crawford, he was such a "legend" in the part and it was a thrilling show. When she starred opposite Guillaume, it suddenly became HER show. She was the "major presence" in it. I think this is what Lloyd Webber always intended, since he wrote it for his wife. Christine should be the focal point. But with Crawford on the stage (and back stage, and above it, etc.)... he dominated the musical. It's amazing how different a show can play with different performers in it.

With Dale and Michael in the leads (and the brilliantly talented Reece Holland as Raoul), this was and is one of the best musical productions I have ever seen (and twice!).

I would have loved to have seen Sarah Brightman. But, when I finally got around to seeing the show, she was long gone. Rebecca Luker was my first Christine. I remember her being amazing (forgive me, I was 14 at the time, and now being 31, that's a long time ago!). Then I saw Katherine Buffalo (I think) who I remember as being horrid (no vibrato AT ALL on her high notes, just a shrill screech). Then I saw Terri Bibb twice on tour in Philly. Then Tracey Shayne in New York again, and then most recently, Sarah Pfisterer.
