CarlosAlberto, actually, that line always went down - in the score, it is written to end on that bottom 'E' that LuPone hits on the recording, but most EVITA's couldn't really find that note whilst performing, so most used to just shout the line or modify it.
In the London revival, however, Lloyd-Webber, remedied this - He put a G7 chord after "Just a little touch of..." and completely altered the tune and rhythm of the line, so Eva now ends on the 'C' above middle C - easier to sing mid-performance!
Being a huge fan of this show my answer was to get them all, the decision was just which to get first.
The answer, of course, is LuPone's.
I would get the Movie Soundtrack or the original london cast recording. I listen to the movie soundtrack more often because I love the orchestrations on this recording and I also love Madonna. Elaine Paige is also very good on the OLC, her don't cry for me argentina and rainbow high can't be beat

And if you want to know what Lea Salonga sounds like as Eva Peron....

I agree with most of the other positive Lupone responses. I think at times (esp. Buenos Aires, and A New Argentina) her singing almost becomes frightening.
Duh! Madonna's!!!!!!!
What else would I say right?
On a serious note though, I like how she mixes to a head voice on the high notes rather than belting them. Very pretty.
I love me some Patti Lupone, but I agree that her belt on "Buenos Aires" is frightful... other than that... she's a master!
Patti. Mandy. 'Nuff said
