Hello! I just finished shopping online for a couple cds! I purchased The Wedding Singer and The Last Five Years! I really wanted Jersey Boys but they are sold out... Are there any other really good soundtracks that would make me want to get up and dance? I would even go for a more serious tone such as Phantom and Les Mis... any suggestions are appreciated!

You mean cast recordings? The Last Five Years isn't really something you dance to but yeah. What kind of dancing are you talking about?
Yes I meant cast recordings! Yea... I know the Last Five Years isnt something you can dance too... Im just talking fun music! I love The Last Five Years though... its awesome! Im new in musicals... I was in a production of Seussical (lame, I know) this year at my High School and ever since I have been in love with musicals! I just want a soundtrack that is fun and you could dance around the house if you wanted to.. .haha... dunno if that clears anything up or not but it was a good attempt lol...

If you just wanna get up and dance, I suggest:
ALL SHOOK UP
ALTAR BOYZ
HAIRSPRAY
JOSEPH.... DREAMCOAT
MOVIN OUT
SWEET CHARITY
What do we care? Buy whatever soundtrack you like.
If you want to be advised as to which cast album to buy, start by using the correct term, and then use the search engine. You will find many threads filled with fabulous suggestions. Try This...

Cast albums aren't really meant t be danced to. Try the Ethel Merman Disco Album, perhaps, or the Disco Ballad of Sweeney Todd. But you'll find them hard to dance to because you'll be laughing so hard!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

If you want to condemn him/her for calling a Cast Recording a Soundtrack, then start by spelling "advice" and "the" correctly...
Sorry just couldn't resist
Haha... It amazes me how many smart asses there are! Seriously though, if you dont care so much, why respond? I understand that my selection will not effect your lives in anyway but why be a smart ass about it? I guess I'm just considerate enough to let people post what they want, and allow those same people to respond to whatever threads they want. Have a wonderful night!

Well first off Hairspray has some great music thats a lot of fun to sing to I would know, I work from 2-10 in the morning in a bakery and its just the music to keep me going but here are some more good musicals to look into
West Side Story
Chicago
A Little Night Music
Avenue Q
Godspell

For dancing I'd say
Hairspray
Get one of "The Four Seasons" Greatest Hits CD's instead of "Jersey Boys".
ABBA Gold instead of "Mamma Mia".
"Saturday Night Fever" movie soundtrack instead of the London cast. Why have imitations when you can have the originals?

I just wanted to check out this thread to see how many times the term was corrected. I do it all the time with people I know, so don't feel bad. Also, in many music stores cast recordings are listed in the "soundtrack" section.
Phantom and Les Mis are two of the greatest scores ever, but they don't make me want to "get up and dance" at all.
Of the current shows, The Drowsy Chaperone, Mamma Mia, or The Pajama Game (revival) would be good choices.
Or maybe my all time favorite: Thoroughly Modern Millie!

How about The Man with the Golden Arm or Psycho?

How does "Wicked" make one want to get up and dance?
The original question was:
"Are there any other really good soundtracks that would make me want to get up and dance?".
