indeed...sondheim was larson's idol/mentor, and sondheim saw great potential in his "apprentice"

Larson/Sondheim could very well be the best musical ever, IMO.

Parker, Stone, Lopez and Marx have apparently already met and have discussed working together on a musical for Broadway -- add Marc Shaiman and you'll have the most outrageous musical in Broadway history.

That's unfortunate.
I think Tesori is the greatest compositional genius the musical theatre has produced in a generation -- blues, jazz, gospel, country, r&b, rock, pop, doo wop ...... she can write catchy, authentic and original melodies in all of them. Her scores demonstrate a fluency of contemporary musical genres unmatched by anyone writing for the musical theatre and gift for melody and rich multi-part harmony that is unparalled. She also understands how to use music to inform and delineate character and situation -- her use of motif and counterpoint to subtly enrich character and move the narrative forward, as well as explicate plot points and conflict within "Caroline" (as well as her earlier score for "Violet") was inventive and absolutely sublime. She's simply an extraordinary composer and has no equal in this era of musical theatre.
