In your opinion.
It really recalls what it must of been like to see musicals in the days of Dolly, Gypsy, West Side Story etc. The dazzle comes from the talented performers and musicians playing beautiful music. It's a magnificent evening of theatre.
Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but a huge bore and dreadfully dull? I just can't understand that assessment.
oh well, I am just glad I got to see it 9 times already. I am hoping it will return to the West Coast next holiday season.
I like HOLIDAY INN better.
Is it a student rush or can old people go too?
Well, considering that this show is neither Holiday Inn or White Christmas the movie, and considering that the original actors from the latter film are sadly unavailable to reprise their roles...
You may not want to go see it.
But seriously, I don't think everyone has to pay $140 to see this show. Check it out let us know what discounts you do find!
It's a general lotto. Old people can do it too.
They take names 90 minutes prior to curtain, and draw one hour prior to curtain.
22 seats. The whole front row of the Orchestra.
$26.50.
WestVillage: Funny you should mention Mansur as she was the one cast member I didn't care for - she was way too loud and frantic. Would have loved to have seen Karen Morrow.
She did get the biggest laugh of the evening with her unexpected 'married couple' line.
Sorry you didn't care for the show. I loved WHITE CHRISTMAS and amn going again tomorrow. And I'm trying for the lottery Thurday or Friday. I'll post more about it after Tuesday evening.
CurtainPullDowner: I actually like HOLIDAY INN better too, but I don't think you could get away with Bogardus and O'Malley in blackface for "Abraham"!
here, here to having Morrow in the show again.
I am so jealous of you right now. Went on first night and going back already? Waaaahh. And what do we get out here in SF instead of WC? A "special" engagement of Phantom.
I saw the show on Saturday evening after previously seeing it both years in San Francisco. I loved it! The dancing is wonderful and the songs memorable. It made me happy and I was able to be entertained for almost 3 hours.
I did have a few problems with a few acting choices, but it is what it is.
Hey Bwayidiot...
In case you come back to this thread...

Jeffry and I have been friends since his Buffalo days, and I've seen him in this White Christmas role before. That guy's got some talent! I'm sure you'll ENJOY the show in NYC!
As an alterntative, too, you could always drive just 4 hours to Detroit and see it for $25 on the Main Floor! - without Jeff, of course! HAHA!
WestVillage: Sorry, but I have to agree with Wanna Be a Foster on this one. The show is really engaging and is a treat to Broadway, despite the high prices. I saw the show in Boston.

I'm very excited to see this show soon. I saw the Detroit production a couple Christmases ago at the Fox while I was working around the corner at the Detroit Opera House, and absolutely loved it. In the midst of working Barber of Seville it was such a treat to sit down with an old-fashioned song and dance musical. The design was pretty fantastic (though it was the second night of previews, so there was a long scene change going into the "Falling Out of Love" scene due to the computer running the automation deciding to freeze up). The choreography was great, especially the tap numbers, and the talent was amazing.
I'm also hoping to go back and catch it in Detroit as well. I've been a huge fan of Jill Paice ever since we were in college together and can't wait to hear her singing these wonderful Berlin songs.
