#0White Noise debuts this Summer.
Posted: 2/7/06 at 5:15pm
The controversial new musical WHITE NOISE, a cautionary tale inspired
by the notorious pop group "Prussian Blue" and featuring music by some
of theater's most promising composers, has been optioned by Nasser
Productions.
Nasser Productions has optioned the new musical WHITE NOISE for a
summer 2006 production. NOISE features new songs by Rick Crom
(NEWSICAL), Joe Drymala, Glen Kelly (Dance Arranger for THE PRODUCERS
& SPAMALOT), Laurence O'Keefe (BAT BOY), Stephen Sislen (SLUT), and
Eric Svejcar (CALIGULA). The book is by Joe Drymala and the show will
be directed by Ryan J. Davis (current Assistant Director of JACQUES
BREL IS ALIVE…), who conceived the piece. Todd Underwood (national
tours of KISS ME KATE and OLIVER!) will choreograph.
A private table reading was held last night featuring Whitney Bashor,
Robert Jarrett (MAMMA MIA! Las Vegas), Deven May (BAT BOY), Kacie
Sheik (WE WILL ROCK YOU, Las Vegas), Greg Stuhr (SPELLING BEE), and
Kevin Pariseau (SLUT.)
"WHITE NOISE confirms the old adage that it's better to be a star than
wear one. An adorable pair of sisters, Blanche and Eva, lead the teen
band 'White Noise,' mixing irresistible harmonies with white power
rhetoric and taking the nation by storm. Their message of racial
purity resonates strongly with young people across America, and
Blanche and Eva prove themselves to be masters of the most terrifying
and unstoppable form of Fascism in today's culture: Top Forty pop.
"WHITE NOISE follows the incredible march of this 'Kute Klux Klan'—as
their career starts to cook, they overcome their own personal hang-ups
and learn to live on the axis of fame while firmly denying the hollow
cost. Though most juke box musicals are normally thought of as
"not-sees", WHITE NOISE promises to be a real gas."
A second reading will be held in May. For more information contact
producer Matt Nasser at matthew.nasser@gmail.com.
