Anyone else see the similarities between these songs? I don't know... for some reason, whenever I hear "Like a comet pulled from orbit" I hear "Like a clown whose tears cause laughter." Maybe it's the similar lyrics, but the notes are similar too. Anyone else notice this?

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

Yes, they're both dreadful, cliched songs.

The first time I heard For Good, Who Will Love Me As I Am was all I could think about. So funny you brought that up!

I always felt that the two songs are really similar. Last year, my school had a chamber night. One duet of girls sang For Good, and another sang Who Will Love Me As I Am?, and when they were practicing, I thought they were singing the same song.

Aww, enchanted hunter, i adore these songs and don't find them dreadful whatsoever. for good is dreadfully overdone and overplayed and i'm quite over it, but Who Will Love Me As I Am is a gorgeous and magnificently performed (usually lol) song... i think side show is completely underappreciated.

I think Side Show is best enjoyed as a recording, honestly.

I respect everyone's tastes, but I think that both songs have some of the most cliched lyrics and some of the worst analogies I've heard in a song. Just my opinion though, I know many people love Wicked and Side Show and I completely respect that.

I never really thought about the similarities but now that you've brought it up it does sound really similar :)

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... (The Highwayman. Sung by: Loreena McKennitt)

^Ditto!

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...
