So, I feel fairly confident in my abilities as a triple threat, and pretty much always have (albeit I can't take a compliment to save my life). I was part of a performing group in high school with other area teens (many of which are now recognized names - so proud of them!) and always wondered why I never got much to sing or do in our shows...then I went to college for a year and took voice lessons and auditioned for a show with these people and was so surprised to find myself getting tons of attention from people all of the sudden and lots of "wow, who have you been working with? You've improved so much in just a year - that's amazing" and things like that.
While cleaning out some old boxes I found an old kareoke tape that I made when kareoke first came out - I think I was in 5th grade and I sang "Love Will Lead You Back" as performed by Taylor Dane (sp?). I'm thinkin' how proud I was of how good I sounded (back then when I'd listen to it) and pop it in...DAMN, I SUUUUCKED!!! Then I'm going through unmarked videos and find a video of me performing at a family reunion in 7th grade, and I'm all "I KNOW I sounded good on this song"...nope, not so much.
My conversation starter is this: I'm so used to so many people who are on Broadway now having always been amazing and having their talents recognized as children (either former Broadway Kids or doing print work or singing at big time sports things, Star Search, etc.) - anyone else out there that started off real rough and has just come a long way?
lol, I'm honestly so sad that I was so disillusioned when I was younger, lol. It's so depressing...

According to many eleventeen million blown auditions, I'd say I still suck- HaHaHaHa.
Eh, put those who rejected me in the 'People I'll Sh!t On Later' List. :)
