Who is gonna license SPAMALOT? MTI?

And anyone know when? When the show closes or before?

The show would be a big hit for college productions.

(Of course, assuming they will lisence the show at all.)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I would assume that no one currently has the rights to Spamalot other than the producers and writers. I would guess MTI would pick them up, but there's no way they'll be out very soon. Rarely do shows license before they've closed. Les Mis was a large exception, but they licensed a High School Edition, not the real version.

The rights for Rent just came out close to 10 years after it opened on Broadway. I'm also not sure if everyone has access to these rights or not. Don't expect Spamalot to come out before it closes, unless it runs for quite some time on Broadway!

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

The RENT rights are NOT available. They are HIGHLY restricted, meaning essentially impossible to obtain. They are currently seeking out large regional theatres that they would like to see the show done at. It's not going to be available for high schools, colleges or community productions for another 5 years or so, I would imagine.
