Thank you. Tracie Thoms and I literally just had this discussion no more than a week ago so I still had it all pretty fresh in my mind. She seemed pretty angry/upset over what was going on with her, understandably. Between stagedoors and message boards and myspace pages and all that stuff people really feel like they know their favorite performers and I guess sometimes that makes them think it is ok to get in touch with them in other ways. We feel like we know them, but we don't "know" them and they certainly don't know us. Be grateful that they are willing to interact with us as much as they do and leave it at that. If you can't get to a stagedoor, then send fanmail and hope they answer. If they don't, then understand that they are human, they are busy, and they have lives outside of their eight shows a week.

"I wrote a book: "How to Be Popular". Now I've put together a top ten list of how to help you: -Elphie, everyday... shower. I mean, who knows? Maybe some of that green is gonna come off! -Deodorant Elphie. No body likes a stinky witch! -I think we've covered the hair, we'll get to that. -Clean underclothes. That's all I'm gonna say. -Look at your posture. That's no way to be popular! -Bed made, room straightened. We've done that. -Colors blended. Oookay. -But the most important thing to have, to make yourself popular, is to keep your beautiful smile." ~Kristin Chenoweth in her last performance of the song "Popular"

To actually answer the question that was presented at the beginning of the thread before it got sidetracked.....I've only written to three people on Broadway and the only one to respond back was John Lloyd Young. I wrote a letter to him, Christian Hoff, and Hugh Jackman and only John wrote back.

MillieDilmount, with all due respect, I don't know if you're looking for your answers in the right place. I'd wager that most Broadway actors would be understandably reluctant to give the detailed advice you're seeking. And I agree that you should never, ever try to call an actor. Even if you mean well, it's crossing a line. Would you really want to be fielding calls from strangers, if you were in their shoes?

There are lots of books about Broadway experiences out there, which will have a lot of the information you'd like. Read. Research. Go on the Equity website if you want specifics about salaries. Read Backstage. Go to events like the Backstage Actorfest, where they have panel discussions and lectures that cover aspects of the business. I'd say that would help you more than trying to talk to individual actors.

Sorry but most of Darcie's posts and questions are completely out of line. We all have favorites but there's a line and it shouldn't be crossed.
