I just received my ticket as a present from my Grandfather.
Anyone else going?

I am! It's only my second year going...maybe one year I'll actually get to see it with a host! :)
I've gone every year since I first came to New York. That's 6 years now. It's such a great night. I'm excited =D
I always wondered how does the general public get tickets for such a prestigious event? If you don't mind me asking- how expensive are they? How hard are they to get? Thanks for your graciousness- I live vicariously through you New Yorkers!
My ticket was $250, but my seats require binoculars and a tissue for nosebleeds.
You ask so many questions.
To be honest, it's an absolute pain to get good tickets.
If you want them, you've got to get them the second they are released. There's a Tony email system, and they send out emails as soon as the tickets are released. Then you can order them over phone (like I do) or I think you can get them over the internet, but don't quote me on that.
You don't want to be too close to the back, because then you can't see anything.
If you get them straight away, you should be able to get a good mezzanine seat. This year i'll be in the centre third row mezzanine which is quite good.
The price...well it depends how much you're willing to pay. Good Mezzanine seats...somewhere between $200-350. The balcony seats are cheaper, yet a little more than you'd pay for a normal Broadway show.
I've heard some people manage to get stalls/orchestra seats, but I never can. They're probably ridiculously expensive anyway.
So I hope i've covered everything.
Sorry for all the questions. Just always wanted to know. Thanks for taking the time to answer all of my questions. Have always been a Broadway fan, just live too far away to enjoy it all. I hope you have a wondeful evening! Cheerio!
Any time supportivemom.
A question (that's probably been answered) for those that have gone:
Literally 2 minutes ago, I was offered a ticket to the awards. Great. But now the inevitable problem of "What to wear?"
I am aware that it is technically "black tie only," but not only can't I afford to rent a tux right now but I am afraid it will be too late, since I will be out of commission to do anything between Friday and Sunday. Would it be acceptable for me to just wear a nice, black suit and a nice, dark shirt and tie? It will still look great and from what I assume, it will be fine - but I just want to ensure that I'm not going to look like a bum.
Any help is appreciated.
Munk, I've never gone, but I though this thread might help:
Have fun if you go to the ceremony!
It was a great help - thank you so very much.
No problem, munk.
I'm going-sitting either 3rd row center 1st mezz. on the aisle or in the orchestra. (the Tony people are very nice-I'm waiting to hear if they can get me a last minute switch.) This is my birthday gift. Going to the gala, as well.
