well, crosby and benanti have differnt endings to the song. the revival ended with a trio at the end, giving benanti a higher ending soprano note. i like the original version better because the lower note allowed crosby to belt in a way that gave more personality to the character. it wasnt so....soprano-y.if that makes sense.
i think benanti has a lovely voice. i just thought her performance both technically and vocally lacked the depth crosby was able to acheive.

"Unfortunately, I don't think Crosby has done any other recorded work after Into the Woods, she decided to take care of her family before we could get more of her talent. I did see her in Guys & Dolls during her stint as Sarah Brown and she was pretty good, and her Sally in the recent Follies version just blew me away (she should've reprised the role for the Encores! production)."
Such a shame she hasn't recorded more. She's delightful. I really regret not making the trip to see her in Follies, but it just wasn't possible time/money wise at the time. I would love to hear her take on Sally. (Though I am not disappointed in Victoria Clark)

*Shrugs* How could I forget the trio at the end of the song in the revival? Just horrible, especially since I hated the voices of Molly Ephrain and Adam Wylie. *Shrugs*
Oh, wyou17, don't get me wrong. I'm in no way disappointed that Victoria Clark is going to play Sally. I just adore Crosby and the chances of seeing her perform live are a lot smaller than seeing Clark on stage again. Crosby's "Too Many Mornings" was simply orgasmic.

I know what you mean, FoscasBohemianDream. Seeing Crosby's Sally recreated at Encores would have been a treat, with no slight to Clark. Too bad that at this point, another Follies recording is so unlikely, and I would give anything to hear that "Too Many Mornings"...and her "In Buddy's Eyes"...and her "Losing My Mind"...::sigh::
When is the last time she was even in New York? Kim Crosby, come back! At least a solo CD...
