And I'm rooting for Victoria Clark to grab Best Actress rather than Foster.

The book for DRS, unlike SPAMALOT, in not a word-for-word copy of the film screenplay. In fact I think very little if any of the DRS screenplay made it into the musical book. Same characters, basic scenario and plot twists, but otherwise the dialgoue and everything else is original.

I'm going to be very interested in the Drama Desk Awards this year. I'm particularly curious to see how Altar Boyz and Dessa Rose will fare. I think they could steal some thunder from the big budget Broadway entries.

That's cool Margo. I haven't heard or seen really anything from the musical to know what exactly they did. And if Foster is anything like she was in NC, then I don't think she should win a Tony at all.

Agreed Margo, but don't you think they will want to give Spamalot something-- and "book" would honor Creator Eric Idle?
It's a great year for musicals, that's for sure! Can anyone remember a stronger line up without going back to "golden Age" territory?
it would be nice if Piazza took Best Score.
Margo - I'm with you on Clark for Best Actress. I could see it in her performance at the Goodman in Chicago. I'm just afraid the show will be swallowed by the Beaumont.
If "Spamalot" wins , I might be as upset as I was when "LK" beat "Ragtime". Have not seen "Bee" yet, but "DRS" is much better than "Spamalot".

It's a fun year with few obvious favorites in any category (and we stil have PIAZZA, CHITTY and ALL SHOOK UP to open). The play categories are similarly overstuffed with Play Revival being impssible to call at this point (and Best Actor in a Play has nearly two dozen possible candidates including many past winners and major "name" actors -- how will the nominators ever choose a top five?).
Truly an embarassment of riches this year with several worthy candidates in various categories who will be overlooked from even getting a nomination.

I haven't seen BEE yet so I can't comment, but from what ive seen so far, i really think DRS should win. I think its witty, charming, great music. It does seem like this year there wont be any 1 show dominating the Tonys, which I think is cool, spread the wealth a little. A smaller show like BEE would definately benefit financially from Tony attention.
