When they get to doing Young Frankenstein, who do you think would be in the show?
I think that it would be:
Matthew Broderick as Fronkensteen
Kristen Chenoweth as Elizabeth
Roger Bart as I-gor
Brad Oscar as Inspector Kemp
Tom Hewitt as the monster
Anyone else have ideas?

No ideas but just wanted to say that casted isn't a word. Sorry, but that's a pet peeve of mine. Past tense is cast.

Not that I would agree with it, but I think that particular creative team would be more likely to go with Martin Short as Frankenstein.
I would say Cady Huffman as Inga, but I doubt she'd do it because it's too typecast

The title is YOUNG Frankenstein. Martin Short is in his 50's.
Stroman and Brooks have said Broderisk is their first choice for Dr. F.
I'd like to see Nancy Opel as Blucher.
And how about Jason Antoon - the bartender from CONTACT, as Igor.

It appears Matthew Broderick is taking the Nathan Lane/Zero Mostel route. That being said, he'd probably be a good choice for Fronkensteen.

Jon - I know, but it sure didn't stop them from using him as Leo - unfortunately.
I'm just not sure that milquetoast Broderick can pull off the manic side of Frankenstein. I had no idea that the team had already talked about casting wishes.

Doesn't seem to me that Leo Bloom has to be young. Actually, it makes a little more sense if he's a bit older (and therefore more beat up by Mr Marks and life). I haven't seen YF in a long time, but I don't remember the Dr having to be young, either (besides the title)

Well, Gene was 41 when it came out in theatres. I believe the use of 'young' in the title only references his status as the original Dr. Frankenstein's son (or is it grandson, I can't remember.)
And you're right about Leo - I just see Matthew as so eternally youthful, and that's what I associate the role with.

I don't think Matt would be a good Frankenstein...I mean, he's OK, but I don't think it is the right role...he usually plays the bumbling fool...i don't know...
Well, the monster IS supposed to be kind of serious, kind of funny. I think Tom would do it well, but it would be a waste of his vocal talents.
Maybe Ernie Sabella as Igor...
I could actually see Hunter Foster as Frankenstein, lol.

Basically anyone who has played Leo, could probably play Frankenstein. This would also be a waste of his talent, but I think Harvey Fierstein would be really good as the monster.

BWayBoy88 - that is REALLY funny - but I like it a lot

Cheno has said several times before that when this show gets the greenlight she definitely wants that role. I think she'd be great.
And as for Matthew, I've never seen him so I'm unsure of whether he'd work for this project or not.
Warell, can you please edit the "Casted" to "Cast". My anal retentive obsessive compulsive nerves twitch everytime I scroll down and see this!!!!!

Bea Arthur as Frau Blucher...My God that is inspired. They would have to write a song for her, but it would be a career capping performance. Of course, Cloris Leachman was truly amazing...that look of modest embarrassment when the horses rear at her name. No real explanation of why the horses are terrified of her could ever be as funny as what that look on her face makes me think of.....
And as long as we're dreaming, why not cast Kristen as Inga and Idina in the Madeline Kahn role?
Blucher, I believe, has something to do with glue in German, hence why the horses are so skiddish
Idina as Elizabeth? No no no. Kristin Chenoweth has already been mentioned for that part and she would be fantastic. I think Martin Short would be better than Matthew Broderick, but Stro and Mel have already said that Matthew is their first choice. I agree with Nancy Opel as Blucher is fantastic. Marc Kudisch should play the Monster. Roger Bart as Igor and Brad Oscar as Kemp are also inspired choices.
"He was my....BOYFRIEND!"
Alison Janney for Frau Blucher
And I recall seeing somewhere that Mr. Brooks thought Lee Evans (the London Leo Bloom) would make a terrific Igor.
AND PLEASE GOD PLEASE WON'T YOU FIX THAT SUBJECT SPELLING?????
THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS "CASTED".

Yes Yes Star2Be but something about Cloris Leachman makes me think she sneaks out to barn at night and....
Well, it would get edited out I'm sure. Think Catherine the Great!
Hey, Donna Murphy could play Frau Blucher in her Fosca drag!
When she feels up to it.....

I'd rather see Megan Mullally as Elizabeth.
And I like the idea of Allison as Blucher.

PLEASE no Matthew Broderick. But I'm definitely feeling some Mullally.

Megan Mullally would be WONDERFUL as Elizabeth!
I'm terribly excited about this show...the opening number is called "The Happiest Town In Town" -- how BRILLIANT is that?
