re: Who would you cast in a CAMELOT Revival?

Nathan Lane as Arthur

All kidding aside how about Brent Barrett or Stokes ? I think there should be a rule against reviving a show ad nauseum. Enough is enough. Do something else before you do this,MFL, MOL, Gypsy etc over & over again

I can think of many shows (some I saw & some I didn't) that should be revived ahead of these old chestnuts

Brent Barrett as Arthur, he has the looks, the voice, the acting skill and He isn't too old. (On broadway, too old is like...70)

Rachel York as Guenevere, same reasons as above, and she looks great in costumes from that era.

I wouldn't. I had the great misfortune of seeing Richard Harris do it on a tour yearsa go and I have NEVER been so bored!

Richard Harris was a ham in the worst sense of the word. I saw him on Broadway when he could still get through the role somewhat decently. God knows what he was like on the tours. His arch-Shakespearian take on King Arthur was abysmal.

It's a tough show to direct, but I would love a full-scale, opulent revival instead of the half-baked ones we've had to put up with.

Arthur= Brian Stokes Mitchell
Guinneviere= Laura Benanti
Lancelot= Mark Kudisch

I know the part will likely go to Liam Neeson..and I'm fine with that too. I just think Stokes would be magnificent.

why would anyone cast anyone in a show that was quite awful the first time around. CAMELOT is terribly boring onstage.

If done right, CAMELOT isn't boring at all. It's one of my favorite musicals and Princeton (somehow) knows my dream cast. :)

Laura Benanti = hot from the knees up. I remember when NINE opened, there were many comments on the various message boards about how thick her calves and ankles looked, and how they should have put her in pants instead of a short skirt. Obviously, you couldn't tell in Into the Woods.

That's EXACTLY what I thought of when I saw this thread.

[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

what about rebecca luker as Guinnevier she has not been seen on broadway since the music man. I think is a perfect role for her! :)

re: Who would you cast in a CAMELOT Revival?

Folks, Arthur and Gwen are supposed to be YOUNG ADULTS - barely out their teens at the beginning of the show. And then the action only moves forward FIVE YEARS. You've all been brainwased by ancient Richard Burton and Richard Harris in the revival tours.

Take a look at Burton on the Ed Sullivan Show. He is downright BOYISH. Julie Andrews, too, looks about 19. Rebecca Luker? Maybe 15 years ago. Stokes? Never.

The movie version of Camelot really suffered because of Richard Harris's singing voice, or lack thereof. I think it would've been much more interesting with an Arthur that could hold a note.

And the whole book should be shortened. It's too long and boring. Great music though.
