I also saw the show in London, and am very curious to see how it will play to a New York audience. It's not a great piece of theatre, but I did walk out of the show with a smile on my face. Patina was fabulous, but the supporting cast of nuns left something to be desired. Some of the music was good, but the book was just a fluffy plotline that was badly strung together -- needed much more room for the development of the characters. (if I didn't know the backstory from the film, I would not have understood why they were making the choices they did...) Hopefully they make some book and casting adjustments before this show transfers, otherwise it could have some major trouble.
One fun thing -- if it is anything like the London production, you WILL see tourists in the theatre wearing souvenir habits. :)

Posted: 3/15/10 at 11:16amI saw it in London last week as well, and was very disappointed. The book is terrible, the songs unmemorable. It only comes to life when the nuns do their thing. The first act just plodded along. Second act was a bit better, but not much. I was bored through most of it. It's on par with 9 to 5.

Posted: 3/15/10 at 1:04pmI saw it in London and it was ok. Some strong songs for the nuns while the men have rather embarrassing material. The book is very weak and doesn't really pick up until the second act. I smiled and tapped my foot a few times, but I was underwhelmed by this missed opportunity.
