Posted: 2/23/06 at 2:58pmI know this has been discussed but...I was in Tower Records yesterday, and saw the Reefer Madness DVD and thought to myself: "Self, didn't some people mention this DVD smells like chocolate." And sure enough, as soon as I brought the DVD to my nose (and as my boyfriend stared at me like I was crazy) I smelt a strong odor of chocolate. And the box is brownish. Was this intentional?

I have no idea, but my friends and I have been wondering about that ever since I bought my copy the day it came out.
I posed the question earlier on these boards and someone told me it was because each one was originally packaged with a "special brownie." Something tells me it was bullsh*t, but there you have it.

Mine doesn't! Or maybe I'm too congested.... I never really...ever...smelt...DVDs before. I will when I'm cleared up though. Nice thought.

I was driving home with it and I wondered why my car smelled so good. Since it was the only new thing in there, I smelled the box and lo!--smelled like chocolate. I told my friends and none of them would believe me until they smelled it too.
At first I thought there must've been some sort of potpourri at Border's that had left its trace on my DVD, but then 2 more friends bought it from different stores and they all smelled like chocolate.
Very mysterious.

Posted: 2/23/06 at 3:08pmLike I said, the Box was SPECIALLY MADE to smell like chocolate, to simplify one of the choice snack foods of the munchies. There's also a number about brownies in the movie, if memory serves.

It's pretty strong. Not strong enough that it made the whole car smell, but it was on the seat next to me and I kept getting wafts of fragrance.
And yes, there's an entire song called "The Brownie Song." A very trippy and disturbing animated number.
