I studied music theory for most of my childhood and it didn'tmake me appreciate Sondheim any less :P

Anyway, Art is the song that seems to grab everyone at first, but the score relaly grew on me--I did give it a lot of listens allowing it to do so. But i have to admit since going throguh the period when it came out of playing it a lot, I don't have much of a desire nowadyas to play it again--it sorta has sunk awy from my memory and ears...

Like others here have said I think it has potential but there's just something missing. To call it awful or even him "losing his voice" is silly though--disappointing is more justified. I'm glad we got the recording when we did (although I find Richard whoever as Addison hard to listen to--I've just never liked the actor) as I think that's about as far as the show will progress.... And I have to admit I prefer, for now anyway (fingerscrossed) to think of the note perfect Passion as the end of his major career...

WHich leads me to--I only recently started giving Frogs a serious listen. I bought the cast labum last year but for some reason it kinda slipped thru the cracks (I listen to a lot of music--and only prob about 1/8 is show music--plus the cast albusm I've played the most this year have been LaChiusa's two recent ones) --I knew and loved the original Frogs score--Dionysus' theme especially is perhaps the best chorus piece Sondheim wrote and I love the title song as well as of course Fear No More. The new songs I'm not certain about yet--they sound so far not all too memorable I have to admit (though Marc Cheryr, creator of Desperate Housewvies must be a fan as one of theupcoming episodes is called Dress Big to continue his habit of naming every ewpisode after a Sondheim song)

Now that movie musicals are (somewhat) back in vogue I'd love to see SOndheim's planned movie musical Singing Out Loud brought back out of hte ashes--Water Under the Bridge (especially Debbie Shapiro-Grabvitte's corking version) is one of my fave Sondheim standalone songs

Regarding the comment:

There is also a glaring error when the guys head to the Yukon for the gold rush claiming it is in Alaska. No! The Yukon Territory is in CANADA. It is next to Alaska, but not in Alaska.

Now me:

Disclaimer - I don't know the book to Bounce.

It is a fact that in order to get to the Klondike goldfields, you did have to go through the Yukon of Canada. The famous Pass (click here to see the famous picture) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilkoot_Pass where the Stampeeders had to cross over to get to Klondike is in Canada. So the musical could be correct. It's not like Sondheim to get his basic facts wrong.

Of course you liked it NLS, you like friggen everything. If Sondheim wrapped one of his turds in tinfoil and put it up for 8 shows a week you'd pass out from excitement.
