What happened:

They booked a ridiculously small theatre and expected that rto cut costs on set and design. (The same could be said for Mermaid, but it's doing decent buisness) In turn, it decreased ticket sales and caused it to close almost instantly.

What SHOULD have happened:

Tarzan should have gone to the Minskoff, Lion King should have taken the tour set and gone to the Lunt, Beauty should have taken the 2nd national tour set and went to the Rodgers, Mary should havbe gone to the Palace when Lestat closed and had Legally go to the Marquis, with Drowsy then going to the Atkinson, and Little Mermaid would have gotten the Amsterdam. Or, switch Mary and the Mermaid, and it's still a better turnout for the following reasons: Mermaid and Tarzan were both given small theatres. Had they been given larger theatres where more interesting designs were used, who knows if reviews would have been better? also, Lion King and Beauty going to smaller theatres with smaller sets means they will have less seats to fill, meaning larger advances, with the good buzz they always had. Sorry if it's a bit idealistic, but still, who knows?
