Especially when Cats was written by the great T.S. Eliot. Critics can make an argument for the music and the production, but Eliot's text holds up, especially considering that he wrote it for children. The poems are fun and each character is so well defined. Old Deuteronomy, Skimbleshanks, Macavity, etc can all take their places in the musical Hall of Fame next to Matilda, Oliver and Huck Finn.
