At the first preview at Encores!, she kicked it into the wings on the line "How do you like them eggrolls, Mr Goldstone"
At the first preview at Encores, Patti was not wearing the smock.
She wasn't even wearing the smock at the first preview on Broadway.
It wasn't introduced until about halfway into previews at the St. James.

I'm pretty sure she was indeed wearing some type of coat that definitely wrapped around her ankle as she kicked it away, sparking further frustration and disgust at the Encores performance I saw. I was too far away to see if it had the paint splotches on it, but I doubt it if that is what you mean too.
