Why we love Broadway...

Hey guys!! I already posted this on the off-topic board, but would love to hear what those of you who don't venture over to the off-topic board have to say! I am designing a poster for one of my classes, about the "Top Ten *something*" and mine is "Top Ten Reasons to Love Broadway". So...what have you got? Why do you love Broadway?! Any comments will be appreciated!

What about "top ten reasons to love the arts," or "to love theatre" instead - people not into Broadway won't be so immediately turned off and bored by it. My old HS acting teacher used to have this sort of...mantra-type thing she would put in all the playbills, listing the reasons it is necessary to teach theatre in high school and many of those reasons would apple to what you're doing, i'll try to get a hold of it.

Thanks, and you are correct. I should be more broad in my title...how about "Top Ten Reasons to love Theatre"?

I don't know if this will help you, but this is what I was talking about and I think it's an ingentios little thing:

WHY TEACH THEATRE IN OUR SCHOOLS?

Theatre is a science.
Theatre is mathematical.
Theatre is a foreign language.
Theatre is history.
Theatre is physical education.
Theatre is language art.
Theatre is art.
Theatre is business.
Theatre is economics.
Theatre is technology.

Theatre is taught in schools, not because one is expected to major in it, not because one is expected to perform all through life, not so one can relax, not so one can have fun, but so one will be human.

So one will recognize beauty.
So one will be sensitive.
So one will be closer in an infinite beyond this world.
So one will have more love.
More compassion.
More gentleness.
In short, more life.

Oh what value will it be to make a prosporous living unless you know how to live?

THAT is why theatre is taught in schools.

That's the whole thing, perhaps there's something you can use from that. If not, i think it's an amazing little thing that everyone should read.

Because it allows us to use something beautiful and unique to touch and move people around the world and it is one of the most powerful things in the world.

I love seeing some of the most talented people in the world singing, dancing and acting. Also, the live orchestras too. Nothing like it anywhere else.

I agree completely. Also its so much more personal then a movie. Alot of the worlds most talented actors and singers go by unoticed because they arent mainstream actors like Brad Pitt. Its funny how you see some pretty untalented people in a movie and they get all the attention when amazing actors get looked over every day from stage.
