Wicked-Cancellation Line?

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if there is a cancellation line for day-of tickets at the box office? I have tried calling but they are only open M-F (of course) and the Broadway in Chicago ticket line rep was no help either. On-line searching for info also came up with nothing. But I found these forums!
I was successful in doing this in NY to see the show, and would like to see it here in Chicago now.
Any info is much appreciated!

re: Wicked-Cancellation Line?

Yes there is...I would try the lottery then hope into the line, and/or you could try it earlier than the lottery since more people will be in line after it.

I got a fifth row center from the cancellation last time! good luck!!

and btw--don't even bother asking the B.O. questions like those...they know NOTHING, they don't know who went on as u/s (even though the board saying is 15 feet away) they know absolutely nothing..and will act like YOU'RE stupid :)

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

Thank you so much for the info!
I probably wouldn't risk the lottery, we didn't win either day in NY and the cancellation line does fill up quickly after it's over. Better to get in early.
We didn't get our tix in NY until literally 10 min to curtain, and I'm afraid that almost everyone in line behind me didn't get tix at all.

Oh, and thanks also for the heads up about the B.O., they sound just lovely re: Wicked-Cancellation Line?

haha...the B.O. Staff can be nice:
when I needed a cancellation ticket I only wanted one, they didn't have any and they usually don't sell one ticket (the keep them in 2s) and later they got some new tickets and I was still in the lobby area though not in line, and another woman needed only one so the B.o. office lady was like "Hey! do you still want one ticket?"

but generally it's like "Do you know...???" and the answer is "What?? NOBODY knows that!" lol..sure.

Good luck! I hope you get tickets!

The lottery isn't terrible. About 200 or so people. Totally try it! I won last week and Sean Hayes was there! Front row center! Is there such a thing as seeing Wicked too many times?

So does the lottery get 200 people a night? Is it less during the week?

How long before the show do people begin to queue up?

I've done the Chicago Wicked lottery several times and lost every time:) People begin to heavily show up during the last half-hour before, but there are the die-hards who show up really early as if that was going to get their ticket drawn.
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

So should I get tickets or chance the cancelation line?

I need sound advice.

re: Wicked-Cancellation Line?

Not every performance is sold out. And, if the show is not sold out, there is no cancellation line (since you can just walk up and buy a ticket). At least this is what they told me at the box office last night (Thursday night). In fact, last night, I just stopped by the box office and purchased a second-row ticket for that night's performance (it was pretty far to the right though, but heck, it was last minute).

I would imagine that the weekend performances are more likely to be sold out, in which case I would probably try for the cancellation line. However, it doesn't seem as though this is as much of a worry/concern for Tues-Thur performances.
