I have been a bad Wicked fan and have not been keeping up on the casting news of the Broadway version of Wicked. When and WHY were the parts of Elphaba's father and Dr. Dillimond changed to be played by the same actor, Sean McCourt. Are they doing this from now on?
They are always played by Sean McCourt. The only time that they are not played by the same person is when Sean is out. Its been that way since Sean took over the role of Dillamond.
When did Sean take over the role of Dillamond which is more my question.

I believe William left and Sean took over at the end of last July. I imagine that Sean will be leaving soon to prepare for Mary Poppins, though.
Correct, Sean took over the role when William Youmans left, and Michael DeVries became the Ozian Official. The tour is still done the same way as the original, with Witch's Father and Ozian Official both being Paul Slade Smith.

Slightly off-topic, but I can't believe Sean is actually leaving Wicked, I can't blame him for wanting a change after around 3 years, but he's practically the mascot of the show to me. Hope Mary Poppins has a long run. I imagine when he leaves the roles would revert back to how they were done in the past.

When I found out Sean was leaving Wicked, I was SO disappointed. He's been the person keeping me involved in the NY production for a long time, and I'm terribly sad to see him leave. However, I am beyond excited that he's moving on to Mary Poppins where I imagine he'll do extraordinary things just as he did for Wicked.
