Wicked Cast Recording - How many has it sold?

How many discs have been sold since it came out. Anyone know? I found this article with some info..

The new musical Wicked is not only a hit at the box office but at record stores as well.

The Wicked cast recording — now available on the Decca Broadway label — had the highest first-week sales of any Broadway cast recording since Jonathan Larson's Rent in 1996. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the 19-track disc sold 17,841 units during its first week on the shelves. Comparatively, during their first weeks, blockbusters Hairspray sold 8,769 units, while The Producers fans bought 8,052 CDs

I don't know. Now I'm really interested in finding out. I know I bought one and my mom wanted to borrow it but I didn't give it to her b/c if I gave it to her I would never see it again so she had to buy another one for her car.

Thanks Broadway - I had to buy another one because my daughter borrowed it and never gave it back either. I wanted to know if it remained the highest selling like it started because whatever beat it - I would go see!

I wouldn't be surprised, I listen to mine all the time. I didn't buy mine though, someone burned a copy for me from their CD.

Me too. :X My friend burned it for me for my birthday, before I saw the show and before I even read the book. But its getting worn out, I'm gonna go have to buy me a new one soon. My friend has the single..I think it has Defying Gravity and For Good on it.

I LOVE that soundtrack. I've listened to it about a gazillion times. I also have soundtracks to rent, avenue q (and I RUV that one!) and the original cast of gypsy with bernadete peters. She's so kewl!

My little sister took it to school and lent it to her friends. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

mad at her! My mom yelled at her, too! LOL

I dont have any siblings, but if I did, and they had done that, I WOULD KILL THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, the CD would have never gotten it their hands!!!!!!!!!

LOL I no! When I was studying for my bar mitzvah one day though, she went in my room and grabbed it out from my wicked box that i have all my picturs in and Idina cd's and stuff!!

17841 units in week one - compared to the 2.4 million copies of "No Strings" that N'Sync sold in their first week.....

I've got all kinds of pics of Idina and kristen and my wicked playbill that my sister tried to steal!!!! my daddy took me too see the show wen i had my birthday and she was SOOOOO jelus! And I have a picture of me with the wizard guy and the goat man plus Idina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I have stuff from magazines and newspapers too and i painted the box and put jewels on it and stuff!
